New Mexico: Indian-origin aeronautical engineer, 34-year-old Sirisha Bandla has flown into space today. After Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams and Rakesh Sharma, Sirisha will be the third Indian-origin woman to fly in space and the fourth Indian to have flown in space. Sirisha has embarked on a journey from New Mexico to space with Richard Branson and five other members of the Virgin Galactic company.

The spacecraft has taken off from the southern desert of New Mexico to space. Branson had suddenly announced space travel on Twitter recently. The purpose of his flight is to promote space tourism, for which more than 600 people are already waiting.
Who is Sirisha Bandla?
Sirisha Bandla was born in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh and grew up in Houston, Texas. Sirisha is the Vice President of Government Affairs and Research Operations for Virgin Galactic Company. In just six years, Sirisha has achieved such a senior position in Virgin Galactic. Sirisha has also tweeted a video. "I am proud to be part of the Unity 22 crew and a company whose mission is to make space accessible to all," she said. Earlier this trip was announced by Richard Brenson of the space company Virgin Galactic. He tweeted, 'I have always been a dreamer. My mother taught me never to give up. Now is the time to turn that dream into reality.
